“Under the Tamarisk tree Who loves to lie with me” * Exotic and expansive both in repertoire and scale The Tamarisk Collection, by Coles Design Studio, captures the atmosphere of the east with landscapes, flowers, grasses and trees on grounds reminiscent of traditionally crafted silk, tooled leather, lacquer work, enamel and fine porcelain. The 12 wallpaper designs are all wider width at 68.5 cm (27ins). The Collection includes 3 designs with matching backgrounds to intersperse with the main designs **or** use alone.  IRISE FLOWER portrays a single oversized bloom in repeat with shadowy foliage on a metallic crackle ground, evocative of a papier-mâché screen. In muted pinks, jade and violet on silver, ruby-red, sage and chestnut on copper, vermilion, ginger and jet on gold wash **or** amethyst, oyster and blue moonstone on bronze verdigris. Matching background, CRACKLE is in silver, copper, gold wash **or** bronze verdigris. Elegant as an oriental lacquer screen, the silhouettes of ORIENTAL GRASSES show giant stems against a backdrop of undulating hills – ebony on lacquer red, frost on gilt and mahogany, dun on silver, moonstone and bone, burnt bark on gold and wild silk, frost on silver and parched earth. The matching background ORIENTAL LANDSCAPES echoes the terrain. BRUSH FLOWER portrays colossal tumbling chrysanthemums lightly brushed like raw silk. In lacquer red and gold on jet, silver and dove on onyx, powder on pink marble, pale jade on new grass **or** smoke on pigeon wing. There is also a matching plain background - BRUSH PAPER.  SUN & CHRYSANTHEMUM projects twin suns cradled in chrysanthemums on a shimmering silk-like iridescent crackle ground – amber shades and gilt on jet, smoke **or** jade backgrounds and amethyst and gilt on splintered garnet. Grand oriental birdcages in WILLOW GARDEN shelter under fantastic trees – coral, lichen, white and gold on oyster ground, silver, sage and white on celadon, pale jade, silver, pewter and aged bamboo on citrine **or** peridot, teak and rose on light buff. On wings of cherry blossom, MATSU PINES floats across a matt backdrop – in lacquer red, shaded pink and lichen on faded moss, indigo, shaded hay and blush on plum, blossom pink, shaded sapphire and topaz on ultramarine, plum, white and shaded fawn on dove **or** cerise and shaded bark on wild honeycomb. PARASOLS whirl on a small measured geometric background figured like jacquard silk – silver, white and dove on ebony, carmine, duck egg and stone on crushed violet, azure, white and bamboo shoot green on celadon **or** silver, gold, dove and carmine on silver and ebony. In PATTERN BAMBOO towering canes support randomly patterned leaves – amethyst and lacquer red on parchment, jet, white and turquoise on egg noodle yellow, silver and jet on crushed ruby, new shoot green and aubergine fade on oyster **or** nutmeg, silver and gold on jet. TULIP TREE is capricious in style and colour, enveloping the wall in fantasy. Flame poppy and burnt orange on iridescent rose, ivory, frost, dove and cobalt on oyster, silver, frost amethyst and rose quartz on celadon, pale jade, pigeon, frost and ox blood on snow cloud **or** pale rose, amethyst and jet on serge blue.
